The Eagle Jazz Band is one of the great names in Birmingham jazz, with a history stretching back to 1951. Now led by reedman Matt Palmer, the band operated under the name The Millennium Eagle Jazz Band for some time, but has now restored the much-loved traditional name. With a recent CD out, Memories, the band mainly hones in on classic jazz material and the songs of the 1920s to 1940s, but, with many multi-instrumentalists in the band, their sound and approach are flexible.
