Digby Fairweather’s new book, Ace of Clubs, tells the story of London’s 100 Club in the words of those who were there, musicians for the most part. In telling the story of almost 80 years of Oxford Street’s legendary club, Digby draws on the memories of such departed notables as George Melly, Lennie Hastings, Campbell Burnap and Jim Godbolt as well as many of the current stars of the British Jazz scene: Art Themen, Alan Barnes, Bruce Adams and the rest. Digby will have plenty of stories of his own to tell at book signings during the festival.
Ace of Clubs is published by Brewin Books with the aid of funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund on behalf of The Jazz Centre UK.
Digby will be giving talks on his new book on the following dates:
|Sat 17th July||Lightwoods House Gardens||18:00|
|Mon 19th July||The Bulls Head, Bishopgate Street||19:00|
