The Water Gypsies is the perfect name for a group who combine playing gypsy jazz with life afloat in a narrow boat on the Kennet and Avon Canal. The group was born out of a chance meeting at a gypsy jazz jam in Bradford-on- Avon and the four piece (violin, lead and rhythm guitars, double bass) delivers a joyful and exuberant take on the music of Django Reinhardt. Apart from appearing at the Birmingham Festival, the Water Gypsies’ appearances in the last year included the Upton Jazz Festival and the Great Northern Ukulele Festival.
